Manchester United have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to snap up an experienced goalkeeper in the summer transfer market.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have verbally agreed to bring back West Brom’s Sam Johnstone upon the expiration of his existing deal this summer.

In the tweet, it says that the deal being sealed just awaits the impending new head coach’s approval.

He is set to return to the Theatre of Dreams after joining the Baggies in 2018 following a number of loan stints across the English divisions.

With the recent news that number two Dean Henderson will leave the club this summer, Sam will most likely join the Old Trafford side in the same role that his compatriot was used in.

The player is a product of the 20-time English champions academy having been at United since Under 18’s level.

The shot-stopper has won one Premier League title with his former team, that being the 2012/13 term.

Elsewhere, Manchester United caretaker head coach Ralf Rangnick will allegedly name Cristiano Ronaldo in his starting eleven for Sunday’s Manchester derby with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

According to The Sun, the Portuguese will again operate through the middle, with the club’s interim boss hoping that a week between games will have helped ‘re-energise’ the forward.
