In the winter transfer window, Manchester United lost out on the signature of Erling Haaland, who opted to join Dortmund instead.
The Red Devils have constantly been linked with the German club’s star winger, Jadon Sancho, and the latest reports seem highly positive.
According to Irish Independent, the England international has already unofficially confirmed that he will move to Manchester United who believe that the youngster will perfectly fit into the team.
The Irish source have mentioned that the 20-year-old would sign for the Old Trafford club even if they do not play in the Europe’s elite competition next term.
Why would a top quality player of his caliber move to a club outside the Champions League? The probable answer – lucrative deal.
After a terrific debut campaign in Germany, Dortmund handed Sancho a bumper new contract worth £190,000-a-week (The Mail) last summer.
This season, his performances have been even better. In 35 appearances, the Three Lions winger has directly contributed in 36 goals under Lucien Favre. Even Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi did not have as many goals and assists when they turned 20.
So, it is not shocking that he is looking to for a bumper pay rise to move to Old Trafford. As per Irish Independent, the Bundesliga star is looking at a deal with Manchester United that will make him earn £400,000-a-week.
If he does end up agreeing the above mentioned terms then he will become Man Utd’s highest paid player. At the moment, star goal keeper David De Gea is the highest earner and he gets £350,000-a-week (The Sun).
