Roma are reportedly keeping close tabs on Eric Bailly’s contract situation at Man United and could make a move for the defender during this summer’s transfer window.

The 27-year-old centre-back has only signed a new deal with the 20-times English champions in April, however, there remains speculation surrounding his future, with a recent report suggesting that he was available for purchase this summer.

Bailly is already behind Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire in the pecking order at Old Trafford and would likely drop to the fourth choice if the Red Devils signed another defender ahead of the next campaign.

According to Il Tempo, incoming AS Roma’s head-coach Jose Mourinho has identified former Villarreal defender as a possible acquisition during this summer’s transfer window.

The report suggests that the two individuals share a strong relationship following their time together at Old Trafford, and a deal could potentially occur in the coming weeks.

Bailly, who has struggled with several series of injuries during his time at Old Trafford, has played 106 games for his current team over the last five campaigns.

AS Roma have already signed Chris Smalling from Manchester United and their relationship could help them to get the deal done.
