Ivan Rakitic has acknowledged that he is prepared to depart from Spanish giants Barcelona ahead of the 2020/21 season.

With just over a year left on his current deal, Rakitic has been frequently rumoured with a switch to another high-profile European team during the upcoming summer transfer window.

While the likes of Inter Milan, Tottenham and Manchester United have all been credited with an interest, it has also been reported that the experienced midfielder may see out the rest of his contract.

However, speaking to Spanish radio stations last week, the 32-year-old midfielder has revealed that he is open for a new challenge in his career.

Rakitic said: “When parties sign a contract it is with the idea of fulfilling it. Also with the idea that I want to play, but I am calm about it. I would have liked that at some point someone from the club had come out to say that Rakitic was staying to end the rumours.

“[President Josep Maria] Bartomeu has not told me anything. Perhaps today he is listening to us and tomorrow he is going to call me. I have never closed the doors to making a big change.”

Croatia international midfielder also said that he and his family intend to settle in Seville in the future, and it leaves the door open to a possible return to his team.
