Manchester United have officially confirmed that Dean Henderson has signed a long term contract with the club.According to Sky Sports, the shot stopper has agreed a six year deal (until 2025 with an option to extend til 2026) that will make him earn £120,000-a-week. So, the entire worth of the six year contract is £37.4million.

As compared to our first choice goalie, David De Gea, the above mentioned wages are way too low. Last year, the Spanish international agreed terms that make him earn between £350,000 and £375,000 weekly (Sky Sports).

Henderson was in top form for Sheffield United in the last campaign and did much better than De Gea, who has been highly inconsistent in the last two seasons.

The two goalies kept the same number of clean sheets (13) but the English player featured in 2 fewer games since he was not eligible to appear against the Red Devils. While playing for a much weaker side, the 23-year-old made more saves and conceded fewer goals than the former Atletico Madrid man.

Moreover, De Gea made three errors leading to goals whereas Henderson only made one.Henderson was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge (The Sun), so, the Old Trafford faithful should be delighted that United have convinced him to stay put. However, now Solskjaer should make the all important decision.

In all fairness, the youngster deserves his chance to start for the 20-time English champions and our Norwegian boss should opt to bench David De Gea in the 2020-21 campaign. In your opinion, who should be our first choice shot stopper next season?
