If reports in the media are anything to go by then Manchester United are interested in signing an Azzurri midfielder in the form of Gaetano Castrovilli.

According to Il Messaggero, Man Utd have decided to seriously move to sign the 23-year-old star, who is valued at around 50 million euros (£45million) by Fiorentina.

The renowned outlet have claimed that the Italian international is a wanted man in the market and top teams like Roma, Inter Milan, Serie A champions Juventus and European champions Liverpool are also after him.

Manchester United have not strengthened their midfield department in almost two years. Our last major capture was Brazilian star Fred, who was lured in the summer of 2018 when Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club.

Since then, we have lost versatile midfielders like Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera in the past few transfer windows and Solskjaer has not been able to replace them as yet.

Veteran Nemanja Matic is past his best and is not supposed to start on regular basis when Fred and McTominay are fit.

On the other hand, our record signing, Paul Pogba has spent most of the time on the injury table this term and has never been world class for us the way he was with the Old Lady.

Therefore, it is quite clear that the Solskjaer must move to strengthen things in the center of the park at Old Trafford in this summer’s transfer window.

Castrovilli is a regular starter for Fiorentina. This season, so far, in 24 league appearances, he has netted 3 goals and provided 2 assists. He can also play in the attacking third if needed.

The Viola star made his debut for the four time World Cup winners back in November 2019 against Bosnia. In your opinion, who should Man United sign to strengthen their midfield?
