Manchester United are allegedly leading the race for Bayer Leverkusen prodigy Kai Havertz.

The hugely talented playmaker is highly sought after and United are ready to make an initial offer of £50 million for him, according to The Sun.

The club will most probably have to increase their bud but they are eager to secure a deal for the German star.

The report indicates that Red Devils are still eager to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, who netted a hat-trick in a 6-1 victory away to Paderborn last weekend.

Sancho would most likely cost in excess of £100 million if he was to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Kai has often played as an attacking midfielder but the ace can also be deployed out wide or as a forward in a No 9 or No 10 position.

This season the 20-year-old has mustered 15 goals in 38 games for Leverkusen in all competitions, while he has provided eight assists.

Havertz has just over two years remaining on his existing deal at Leverkusen but the club could find it difficult to retain his services.

Meantime, Manchester United would allegedly be interested in signing Adrien Rabiot in the summer as part of a potential swap deal with Serie A giants Juventus for Paul Pogba.

The speculation surrounding Paul’s future continues to gather pace, with the France international apparently determined to force a move away from the Red Devils.

Rabiot, meantime, has been strongly linked with an exit in the latest months, and United are one of the clubs thought to be interested in signing the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.
