Aston Villa will join the hunt for Jesse Lingard if given encouragement Manchester United are open to selling the player when his sensational West Ham loan ends, according to Football Insider.

The 28-year-old playmaker has reignited his career with a series of stunning displays since joining the Londoners in January.

The aforementioned source claims that the club are keeping a close eye on the situation of the 28-year-old going into the summer.

He is highly regarded by the team’s coaches and seen as a “Villa-type player” who could make an eye-catching impact on Dean Smith’s side.

Jesse can play anywhere behind the main centre-forward, and even up front, but has been at his most effective at his current club in a central attacking midfield role.

His 10 Irons appearances have yielded a stunning nine goals and four assists, the best spell of his up-and-down career.

This site revealed last week that the Villa have set their sights on signing two new wide forwards.

One of those targeted is Kosovo and Werder Bremen’s Milot Rashica, who can operate on both wings as well as down the middle.

Like Rashica at Bremen, Jesse is out of contract at the Old Trafford outfit in the summer of 2022.

The Premier League heavyweights have a big decision to make on whether to keep Jesse, potentially offering him a new deal.

Alternatively, they could sell their academy product this summer at a time when Lingard’s form has never been better and his value has escalated.
